Coastal Education Center Grand Opening

Saturday, May 3, 2014

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ribbon Cutting at 2:00 p.m.

Wrightsville Beach

On Saturday, May 3, the doors to the federation’s Southeast Office and Coastal Education Center will finally OPEN! Be among the first to tour the newly-renovated historic building and learn about our exciting summer programs. The event will feature fun kids’ activities, the Plastic Ocean Project’s mobile art exhibit and light refreshments.

A special display will showcase the transformation of the Palmgren-O’Quinn House from a family beach cottage into the federation’s Coastal Education Center and Southeast Office. From its barge ride around Harbor Island to countless renovations, the yearlong project serves as a testament to community action, volunteerism and a little TLC. Guests can record their memories from the historic Palmgren-O’Quinn House, which will become a permanent video recording of the human history of this Wrightsville Beach home. To find out more about our historic move and the house’s transformation, click here.

Visitors can also check out the Plastic Ocean Project’s “What Goes Around Comes Around” – a mobile art exhibit and grant winner of the 2013 Project Aware program and surfer-rocker Jack Johnson’s All At Once network.

So join us on May 3, 2014 and support the important work of the N.C. Coastal Federation. During the Grand Opening, visitors can join the federation at a special rate of $25. With questions or for more information, contact the federation at nccf@nccoast.org or call (910) 509-2838.
