Saturday Hands-On Mushroom Cultivation Workshop  (9am-3pm) with Tradd Cotter:  A milestone in mushroom cultivation is to reach a level of comfort and understanding that takes you from the basic concepts of mushroom cultivation to actual hands-on experience. This intensive workshop focuses on four methods of production such as growing mushrooms on logs and stumps, wood chips and compost, agricultural by products, and consumer byproducts (coffee and cardboard). Attendees will be welcomed with printed handouts to minimize note taking, an in-depth lesson on life cycles and fruiting strategies, followed by hands-on segments for each of the four methods and leave with their creations at the end of the day. Bulk spawn will be available at a discounted rate for workshop attendees. A lesson in cultivation that lasts a lifetime! Space is limited & registration is required.  The cost is $50/person, includes all materials, and lunch will be provided.  Register below!

Friday Lecture-“Mushrooms, Molds, &  More!”:  Discover the incredible wonders of the fungal kingdom as Tradd Cotter, lead researcher at Mushroom Mountain LLC from Liberty, SC, showcases basic techniques for cultivating many species of mushrooms, “off-the grid” applications, gardening with fungi, fungal ecology and inter-kingdom interactions.  Mr. Cotter will also discuss organic methods of pest control, and cultivation through straw, wood chips, and compost.  Lecture begins at 6:30pm at the McClurken building #200, is free to attend, & light refreshments will be provided.  Add the lecture to your hands-on workshop registration at the link below!
