Central ArtWorks
Persistent Eyes / continuity of the creative

Do you want to experience what Central Outreach & Advocacy Center means to our guests? Do you want to see how our guests express themselves on the journey through homelessness?

Join us for our first Central ArtWorks event "Persistent Eyes / continuity of the creative" on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 6:30 to 9:00pm at The Old Courthouse on the Square in downtown Decatur. At this event, you will encounter the work of Central Outreach & Advocacy Center not through speeches and brochures, but through the vibrant artwork and compelling stories of the homeless and near-homeless people we serve.

We hope you will join us and experience the work of people for whom the creative impulse to make art persists through all life circumstances, even as they travel the dark roads of homelessness. Tickets are $40 and $25 for students, and they include:

  • Delicious food, beer and wine, and other tasty beverages
  • Live music played by local artists
  • Time to enjoy the beautiful and expressive artwork of guests who take part in our weekly art program, as well as works created by staff and volunteers.
  • The opportunity to buy art you like or purchase greeting cards, a Central ArtWorks book, and other gifts created with guest art

Come when you can, leave when you must, and be sure to bring your friends! Please note that those with student tickets will be asked to present their student ID at the door.

You can purchase tickets using your credit card or personal check. We invite you to bring friends, family, and colleagues to experience the incredible artwork of our guests, volunteers, and staff, and to help raise awareness about Central OAC's unique and important efforts to reduce homelessness!

Central Outreach & Advocacy Center is a 501c3 nonprofit in downtown Atlanta that provides emergency services, such as access to food, clothing, shelter, and identification, to homeless and near-homeless individuals to help meet their immediate and critical needs. We also offer innovative employment readiness training to help our guests build job skills and find meaningful, living-wage employment, and we work with our community—housed and unhoused alike—to bring about positive changes in the policies and attitudes that contribute to homelessness. For more information about the vital work of Central OAC, please visit our website
