Please join us for the seventh annual MENDing Poverty Conference on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 8 am – 2 pm. The conference theme is a timely one: “Hungry for Good Food.” MENDing Poverty brings together nonprofit executives, funders and community leaders from throughout Los Angeles - to network and hear great speakers focused on improving services for people living in poverty.
Opening keynote speaker will be Joel Berg, Executive Director, New York City Coalition Against Hunger.
Fred Ali, President and CEO of the Weingart Foundation, will deliver an opening welcome.
The luncheon keynote speaker will be Evan Kleiman, Restaurateur and host of KCRW’s “Good Food.”
This year's event will include concurrent workshops, each with an outstanding panel of speakers, on three key hunger and nutrition issues:
* Food and Community: Gardening as a Catalyst for Social Change
* Making It Easier to Eat Healthy
* Enhancing Nutrition and Reducing Hunger Through Advocacy
Registration fee, including breakfast and lunch, is $89 through June 7 and $109 thereafter.
The event is co-hosted by MEND and Valley Nonprofit Resources, in partnership with the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, and will be held at the MEND Center, 10641 N. San Fernando Road, Pacoima, CA 91331.
