Biotech Boot Camp Grades 6-8 (6145) 

Come be part of this unique opportunity in San Joaquin County to build your skills! Students will be exposed to hands-on Biotechnology activities that will give them experience to build upon including microbiology, micropipetting, electrophoresis, bioengineering, gene expression, protein quantitation, and protein purification!

Daily Schedue

The boot camp will begin at 9:00 AM daily in the Harmony Grove Lab in the Wentworth Education Center at the San Joaquin County Office of Education.  Students will be provided a lab coat to wear, safety glasses or goggles and a research notebook that they will be able to take home.  The day will end at 2:30 PM.

Lunch Break

There will be a lunch break at approximately noon each day.  Students will need to bring a brown bag lunch each day.

What to Wear

Students should wear closed toed shoes each day since it is a lab setting.

What to Bring

Students should just bring themselves, but be prepared to have a sweater in case the air conditioning makes them a little chilly. 

Behavior issues/Safety

This is an enrichment activity and any behavior issues or safety violoations will result in immediate dismissal and removal from the course with no refunds provided.
