John Walker John Walker - the Co-founder and Chief Solutions Officer for Talent Evolution. Getting Started with Linkedin Marketing Hands-on Laptop Training

Today most business professionals understand that they “ought to” have a profile up on LinkedIn, the social media site designed to help professionals expand and utilize their networks. Some are aware that they can and should also create a separate company page on this site. Unfortunately, most people just put up a profile, “link up” to others and wonder what the big fuss is all about. They don’t understand how to actually use LinkedIn to grow their business! In this introductory course you will learn how to leverage LinkedIn to achieve measurable customer leads.

Part 1: Demonstration & Discussion
In the first part of this 3-hour workshop we’ll demonstrate how to:

  • Build, manage and leverage your LinkedIn network
  • Communicate with influence and purpose on LinkedIn
  • Select the right LinkedIn groups to join
  • Conduct targeted research on LinkedIn
  • Recognize business opportunities on LinkedIn
  • Use LinkedIn applications to build your brand and heighten your visibility
  • Track and measure your activities on LinkedIn

Part 2: Hands-On Lab
In the second part of the workshop you’ll be able to get expert assistance working on your own LinkedIn presence. You will:

  • Build or optimize your company page, including adding a cover photo, company logo, product photos, product or service descriptions, and more
  • Integrate your content into your personal profile and/or company page
  • Upload contacts
  • Join groups
  • Make connections (for your personal profile) and find followers (for your company page

Who should attend: Owners and marketing managers of small businesses that want to get started with LinkedIn marketing, or who have already gotten started but need help making the most of LinkedIn as a marketing tool.

Be sure to bring:

  • Laptop computer (not a tablet computer or smart phone) with wireless internet connection
  • LinkedIn login user name and password for your personal and company pages (if you have already gotten started)
  • Access to your contact list (i.e. in Outlook, etc.)

We recommend you also bring:

  • jpg files of your professional head shot (for your personal profile), company logo, products and two to three other images that are on your website
  • Your standard introduction to your business “About Us” paragraph
  • Login information for your company’s LinkedIn and YouTube channel (if you have videos up on YouTube)
