What Is Conclave?

Conclave is the biennial gathering of our brotherhood to discuss the important and relevant issues facing our Fraternity. The Business Meeting of the chapter and association delegates provides the opportunity for the membership to share in the governance and leadership of FH and help set the course for the Fraternity for the next biennium. Conclave was first held in 1917 and this year marks the 48th time we’ve gathered as a Fraternity.

In addition to the important legislative business conducted, the event provides educational sessions and workshops that promote personal leadership development and chapter health, social events to enjoy our fraternal bonds of brotherhood, recognizes our accomplished brothers with our highest honor (the Master Builder of Men award) and outstanding chapters with the Award of Excellence and Ruby Cup announcement, memorializes our brothers who have passed, elects leadership to the International Executive Board of Directors and celebrates the fraternal bonds of friendship and brotherhood that comes from our affiliation with FH!

Who Attends Conclave?

Anyone is welcome! Each chapter and association is required to send a voting delegate; however, all chapter members and alumni brothers are encouraged to join us and learn from one another. Additionally, a special series of events will be included for and House Directors, in addition to events for spouses and/or families.

Why Should I Attend?

Education, networking and fellowship! Improve yourself, improve your chapter, prepare yourself for the future and celebrate the benefits of the FarmHouse member experience!

Special Conclave Events in Charlotte:

Night-on-the-Town at the NASCAR Hall of Fame

No trip to Charlotte is complete without a visit to the headquarters of one of the country’s leading sporting events, the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Friday evening all FarmHouse members and guests will get a special behind the scenes access tour of this magnificent facility, including the history of the sport, interactive museum experience and dinner with brothers and guests. This is an event not to miss!

Leadership Development for Students at the National Olympic Whitewater Training Center

Chapter members will experience the great outdoors on Saturday through a series of team building and leadership activities at the National Olympic Whitewater Training Center—rapids simulation, mountain biking, zip lines, hiking, rock climbing walls—the opportunities are endless at this premier outdoor adventure experience! The perfect backdrop to experience the beauty of North Carolina and develop the bonds of brotherhood with men from across North America!

The Inaugural Alumni & Volunteer Leadership Summit

Alumni and local volunteers are vital part of our Fraternity. To help support these dedicated individuals in their role, Saturday’s programming will include specially tailored programs for advisors and association volunteers with the launch of a new program, the FarmHouse Alumni & Volunteer Leadership Summit. Additionally, FarmHouse is committed to the development of FarmHouse men – for a lifetime, so a series of special interest sessions is developed for alumni attendees as well. Expert speakers, valuable dialogue and important relevant topics to volunteers and alumni alike will highlight this day-long series of education programming and critical conversation! Be there and better yourself!

Voting Delegates and Business Meeting

The official business of the Fraternity is also conducted during the Opening and Closing Business meetings. Voting delegates, in good-standing with the International Fraternity, will be seated for all recognized FarmHouse Chapters and Associations. To be in good-standing, a Chapter or Association must be current in all financial obligations to the International Fraternity. Official voting delegates are to be identified no later than June 1. Amendments to the current by-laws may be submitted up to July 23. Known legislation proposed for consideration will be provided in advance to all delegates for their review prior to Conclave. The membership is encouraged to review the memo on the International Executive Board’s resolution taken earlier this year regarding the proposed rates for dues and fees for the 2014-16 biennium (see page XX).

Silent and Live Auction

One way to show your support, regardless of whether you can attend, is through the donation of an item for the FarmHouse Foundation’s silent and live auctions. Throughout the week attendees will bid on fantastic items – perfect for college students, alumni members, friends or family members – through the silent auction. Then Conclave culminates on Saturday night with the long-running tradition of the Live Auction. To donate an item, contact Allison Rickels, FarmHouse Foundation, allison@farmhouse.org, (800) 722-1905. All proceeds from the silent and live auctions benefit the FarmHouse Foundation and the educational programming offered at Conclave.

Celebrate FarmHouse!

Conclave is a celebration of all things FarmHouse! At this Conclave we will celebrate the achievements of the last biennium, the conclusion of the 2011-14 Strategic Plan, FarmHouse. Forward., recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our chapters and loyal alumni, honor our most esteemed alumni and congratulate the newly elected leadership of our brotherhood to the International Executive Board. We want you to be a part of this Conclave celebration!
