Father Michael Schmitz

Father Michael Schmitz, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Duluth as well as the chaplain for the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, inspires and educates through his priesthood and preaching. His Newman Center focuses on helping students be fed through the sacraments and grow in knowledge about the teachings of the Church. Ordained in 2003 at St. Paul Seminary, he has preached to youth and young adults across the country about the love of God and the call of Jesus Christ for saints to be raised up in the Church. Father Mike’s hope is that these saints will redeem the entire world for Christ.

Sheila Liaugminas

Sheila Liaugminas is an Emmy Award winning journalist with extensive experience in both secular and religious journalism. Sheila's radio show "A Closer Look with Sheila Liaugminas" can be heard on Relavant Radio broadcast in 13 states via 33 stations and across the world via the internet.  She has reported for Time magazine for more than twenty years and has been published in the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, the National Catholic Register and the National Review Online. Sheila is married with two sons: one is a priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago who just received his STL degree in May and the other a graduate student and writer, studying abroad. She resides in Chicago, Illinois.

Bishop Malloy will celebrate Mass with Fr. Michael Schmitz and several Priests from across the McHenry County Deanery.  Former General Secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, (USCCB), Bishop Malloy was appointed the ninth Bishop of Rockford by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and was ordained and installed on May 14th, 2012.
