Chicago BASICS:                                          2-Day Workshop for New Facilitators  June 24 & 25, 2014                                                    @ Loyola University Lakeshore Campus

Join us on June 24 & 25 for our workshop, BASICS for New Facilitators, led by Ms. Maeghan Livacarri, LCSW, Associate Director of The Center for Wellness and Health Promotion "theWELL" at Tulane University. This training is intended to introduce facilitators to the concepts behind the BASICS model program and provide practical application methods. New hires, counselors, grad students, interns or anyone needing to brush up on their implementation skills are welcome and encouraged to attend.              Training materials, IAODAPCA CEUs, and lunch will be provided*.  (Note: attendees will be expected to have previous knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques)

Thursday, June 26, attend our Chicago BASICS: Symposium. This event is designed with the skilled practitioner in mind. We will explore adaptation approaches, administration issues, assessment & evaluation, and provide plenty of opportunity for you to network with colleagues.                                         Register for Symposium separately HERE.

* The 2 Day Workshop is FREE to those who work for or with a 2- or 4-year college or university in Illinois . Out of state attendees will be charged a nominal fee of $25.

Meet our Trainer

Maeghan  Livaccari, LCSW is the Associate Director of the Center for Wellness and Health Promotion at Tulane University. She has fourteen years of experience working in mental health and substance abuse fields. She’s been at Tulane for 6 years and her primary focus has been alcohol education. Maeghan was the lead staff member to implement BASICS at Tulane and has managed the program since inception in 2010. Now that BASICS is fully integrated into the University, the newest prevention initiative she’s responsible for is the implementation of Tulane’s comprehensive and customized bystander program.
