In today’s ever-changing world, employers require significant intangible
                                                 qualities that do not come from a grading curve, test, or lecture.
                                                 AULA alumnus Ray Santamaria, LMFT, and the executive director and
                                                 founder of One to OneTreatment, will share his experience of developing
                                                 these “intangibles” at AULA, and explain how they affect the hiring
                                                 practices of forward-thinking businesses. He should know: AULA
                                                 graduates make up 73% of his workforce!

                                                 Emotional Intelligence: An Interactive Look

Emotional Intelligence refers to our capacity for recognizing our own feelings and
                                                 those of others and managing our emotions, behaviors and relationships
                                                 effectively. In this workshop, we will address how we function in crises, how we
                                                 can overcome inappropriate responses, and how to influence situations
                                                 (interviews, etc.) to positive outcomes through dialogue, short lectures, movie
                                                 clips and a personal assessment.

                                                How to Market Yourself as a Therapist

                                                Inspiration to Publication and the MFA Professional Development Semester

This summer, AULA will launch two new creative writing programs:
                                                Inspiration to Publication (I2P) and the MFA Professional Development
                                               Semester (PDS). In this workshop, Dr. Steve Heller, chair of the Creative Writing
                                                Department, Curt Duffy and Kate Maruyama will share an overview of both
                                                programs and how they will provide new professional opportunities.

                                               Unpacking Your AULA Toolbox at an Interview

When you’re on a job search and going on interviews, how do you convey to
                                               potential employers that you have the kinds of skills they are looking for? Through
                                               engaging, hands-on interviewing techniques and practice, this dynamic workshop
                                               will highlight the unique toolbox of skills that AULA students and graduates carry
                                               with them, and how to put those skills to work in an interview.

                                              Preparing to Work in the Nonprofit Sector: Careers, Competencies, and
                                              Compensation

Since the turn of the century and through two recessions, the growth rate of the
                                              nonprofit sector has surpassed the growth rate of both the business and
                                              government sectors. This panel discussion, with time for a Q&A, will focus on
                                              sharing recent survey data revealing the types of nonprofit jobs out there, related
                                              pay scales, potential career paths, and the competencies needed to succeed in
                                              the sector.
