Do you remember your days at summer camp? This summer, join the Institute @ CESA #1 for this new approach to professional development!
Too often, we ask you to think differently about education and to personalize learning for your students while sitting in a conference room at tables, listening to a speaker. Institute Day Camp will help us all to think and work differently in a relaxed, outdoor environment.
Come for one or two days!
Each day will be a mix of full group and break-out sessions with lots of focus on hands-on activities and time to reflect.
This year, we will have two learning levels -- beginning and advanced -- for the break-out sessions. You can choose which level is appropriate for you for each topic. (You might be beginning in one and advanced in another -- that’s okay!)
Summer Camp is a chance to go deeper and learn more about the elements of personalized learning. This year, we’ll be focusing on several of the learning and teaching elements in more depth and discussing how the three core components drive those elements.
Day One: Adding Pieces to the Puzzle
Whether you are just starting out or have been teaching in a personalized learning environment for 4 years, this day is all about adding high leverage strategies to your teaching arsenal and creating a deeper understanding of personalized learning. Campers will hear from some educators experienced in personalized learning and will spend time on the application of new concepts in planning for next year.

Day Two: Assessment and Challenges
Day two will have two major themes for the day: assessment and challenges. Assessment is such a critical piece of personalized learning to understand where the learner is; campers will focus on incorporating assessment into the day as well as discuss ways to monitor and manage student progress. Campers will also explore challenges or even roadblocks that may arise.

Important Things to Think About:
Remember that this is a park setting. Please dress comfortably and weather-appropriate. Also, please bring along things that will make you comfortable throughout your time at camp. Examples include sun screen, bug spray, rain gear, a blanket, camp chair or “sit-upon”, etc. If you are a coffee drinker, please stop on the way, as we won’t be able to brew coffee on site.
We will provide a morning and afternoon snack as well as lunch and beverages. Each camper will also receive a blank journal for notes and reflection, and a drawstring bag to hold all of your camp goodies.
Please contact the Institute if you have any questions.
