ReTree Steamboat | June 8, 2014

“ReTree has helped connect people with the forest that we live in, and the value of that connection is even
greater than the benefit of all those trees that have been planted. Planting a tree is such a selfless act, a gift
to our collective future, and it was cool to see that being shared by so many people, young and old. Natural
resource stewardship becomes less of an abstract ideal when you get some dirt under your fingernails!”
- John Twitchell, Colorado State Forest Service, ReTree 2013

Each spring, YVSC leads an annual tree planting to help increase the diversity—and health—of local forests
and connect the local community, especially youth, to their forest and environment. Over the last four years,
YVSC has engaged 1,462 volunteers to plant and care for 19,770 trees as part of ReTree!

This year, YVSC and volunteers like you will plant and care for 1,026 trees at three locations in Routt County.
In May, YVSC will be planting with local students at Dry Creek Park in Hayden and at North Routt Community
Charter School in Clark. Community volunteers are needed on June 8 for the main planting event along
the Yampa Valley Core Trail in Steamboat Springs.
