NEW! LiveTalk Series:

Promoting Oculo-Motor Control

Featuring:
Dr. Celia Hinrichs, OD, FCOVD

Monday, May 19, 2014
7:00 - 8:00PM EST

This LiveTalk will address interventions for oculo-motor difficulties. The interplay between vestibular dysfunction and oculo-motor problems is particularly important for therapists to address. Optimum intervention often includes collaboration with behavioral or developmental optometrists. This talk will discuss signs and symptoms of ocular dysfunction and examine when therapists should refer to outside professionals. In addition, the rationale and clinical reasoning for providing given interventions and activities appropriate for therapists will be discussed.

By the end of this LiveTalk participants will be able to:

  1. Identify signs and symptoms of oculo-motor dysfunction and their relation to vestibular functioning.
  2. Describe when to refer to outside professionals such as behavioral optometrists.
  3. Identify clinical reasoning and rationales for activities to address oculo-motor control that are appropriate for allied health therapists.

“LiveTalks” are audio only podcasts that are recorded live.  Recordings of past “LiveTalks” are available on the Spiral Foundation webstore.

Celia Hinrichs is a doctor of optometry specializing in behavioral optometry and vision therapy. Her practice is in Sudbury, Massachusetts. In 2011 she was honored by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) with their President’s Award; she continues to serve as a special consultant to the COVD International Examination and Certification Board.
