Two regional orchid growers and distributors, Seattle's Emerald City Orchids and Yakima Ahtanum Orhids have been invited to speak, display, and sell a wide variety of orchids at the Yakima Area Arboretum on Saturday, May 17. Hosted by the Yakima Valley Orchid Society.
Between the hours of 10:00AM to 4:00PM you can shop for rare and exotic orchids, checkout orchid displays, ask orchid growing questions, and attend two special orchid growing lecturers.

10 AM to 11 AM Orchid Culture: From Germination to Flower - Paul McCarthy, PHD.with Ahtanum Orchid Culture
About the Lecturer: Paul and his wife Gaye own Ahtanum Orchid Culture located in Yakima, WA. Ahtanum Orchid Culture carries over 70 species of orchids, growing supplies, and more. Plus, you can even lease their orchids for your next special event. Paul is an orchid horticulturalist with his PhD in Plant Science from the University of Idaho. Paul specializes in plant pathology, tissue culture, plant regeneration in vitro culture.
11 AM to 12 PM Ochids 101 - Basic Orchid Growing - Joe Grienauer with Emerald City Orchids
About the Lecturer: Joe Grienauer established Seattle's Emerald City Orchids in 2008 and sells over 500 different orchid varieties, along with an assortment of accompanying accessories in their specialty shop. Joe brings with him to the Arboretum superior specimens of species and hybrids ideal for local collectors. Joe has been a favorite speaker at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show
