A Grantmakers Forum of New York Webinar for Funders Only.
Guests: Josh Gewolb, Joe Casion, Harter Secrest & Emergy LLP; F.B. Heron Foundation (invited); Hillside Family of Agencies (invited).
Pay for Success has become a new model for nonprofit investment. Social Impact Bonds allow government to set success measurements and private funders to post bonds for program delivery.
New York State raised $13.5 million for a social impact bond to fund the Center for Employment Opportunities program in Rochester and New York City. In 2014 the governor's budget includes $125 million to support bonds for four programs, including services for high-risk youth from Hillside, the Nurse-Family Partnership and diabetes prevention in our region.
Nonprofits that prepare for programs funded through social impact bonds must spend more time assessing their organization's readiness to focus on impact and evaluation. Organizations like the Nonprofit Finance Fund have invested serious time and effort to provide tools to help this process.
How is your organization investing in your grantees? Has your board discussed pay for success methods that can measure impact? Are service providers in your area prepared for this approach?
Join lawyers, service providers and funders for the discussion.
