Strategies That Work

Tutor training program for those individuals who want to support students with learning disabilities, learning style differences, and ADHD.

The core course in Strategies That Work provides a foundation for understanding learning differences and learning disabilities, along with an introduction to effective strategies for remediating learnign problems and helpful academic accomodations. A graduate of the core course will be familiar with the neurological bases of learning disabilities, ADHD, and executive functioning deficits, the core features of these learning challenges, and research-based techniques for working with struggling students. The information and knowledge disseminated in the core program will be applied and practiced in the mentoring portion of the course. Participants in each course will receive a certificate of completion. The menroting course will take place as a bi-weekly webinar September 2014 throguh February 2015.

Course Instructors

WRS

William R. Stixrud, Ph.D. is a clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in the assessment of learning and attention disorders. He is the director of the Stixrud Group, and he has been training neuropsychologists, learning specialists, and tutors for over 25 years. He is a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the Childrens National Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Behavioral Sciences, and Pediatrics at George Washington University. He is also a rock-and-roll musician who plays in Larry 2.0

 

Meredith Skeath, M.A. M.F.A. has over 35 years of experience teaching at all levels of education. She specializes in working with children who have learning differences.

 

Marth Ein, MEd. has been in special education for over 25 years. her experience ranges from classroom teacher, learning specialist, to educational consultant.
