Educator Workshop

The Yakima Area Arboretum has partnered with the Franklin Conservation District to offer educators this exciting two day workshop.  Registration is handled through the Conservation District.

Participants will receive:
•One guide to choose from: Project WILD, Project Learning Tree, or Project WET Educator Workshop
•Science-based learning for K-5 students with knowledge and skills to incorporate literature in a content area
•Books for your classroom
•12 FREE CLOCK HOURS!!

With guidance from the Project WILD, Project Learning Tree, and Project WET curriculum guides participants will explore how to engage students in nature using environmentally themed children’s books. This Focus on Science & Literature workshop is geared toward helping educators meet Washington state standards using literature in the science content area.

Project WILD is an interdisciplinary conservation program emphasizing wildlife. Project WILD addresses the need for human beings to develop as responsible citizens of our planet.

Project Learning Tree helps young people learn how to think, not what to think, about complex environmental issues. PLT offers strategies and techniques to teach about topics such as forests, wildlife, water, community planning, recycling and energy.

Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) is a water education program designed to reach children, parents, educators and communities of the world to learn about the most precious resource on the planet — water.
