"Being and Becoming the Missional Church"

Dear Members, Commissioners, and friends of the Presbytery of Milwaukee,

Our May meeting is just before Ascension Sunday and Pentecost.  Both of these events should remind us that God has called us into being to work for the Kingdom, but what exactly does that mean in the 21st century when there is so much cultural and ideological diversity?  Does it require us to be something different from what we are?  Dr. Bonnie Sue Lewis, a teacher and noted author and speaker, will help us focus on what it means to be “missional,” and disciples of Jesus Christ in our time.

In addition to being instructed, inspired, and motivated by Dr. Lewis, other highlights of the day will include the following:

  • The examination of Candidate Larry Nunley for commissioning as a Commissioned Ruling Elder in a validated ministry (cf. G-2.1001).

  • The discernment of and action by the Presbytery on the report of the Administrative Commission for Stony Hills Presbyterian Church.

  • The discernment of and action by the Presbytery on the report of the Administrative Commission for Oostburg.
  • An opportunity to fellowship with Presbytery members from other congregations.  How well do we know each other?  Probably not as well as we should.  During the dinner time, find someone whom you don’t know and get to know them.

  • A time of meaningful and inspiring worship which will include a sermon from Dr. Lewis entitled “Who Is Your Cornelius?” based on Acts 10 and 1 John 4:19-21.

(There is a lot of construction on I-94 between Racine and the Wisconsin/Illinois border, so check what exits are open and plan on extra driving time accordingly.)

****Please note early start time of 3 pm****

See you then,

Sara Miles, Presbytery Moderator
