Join Us to Celebrate
the APALRC's 16th Anniversary

We invite you to join the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center in celebrating our 16th anniversary on June 1oth at the China Garden Restaurant in Rosslyn, VA for an event-filled night including an authentic Chinese banquet dinner.

The year 2014 also marks the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson's declaraton on "War on Poverty" which gave birth to many groundbreaking anti-poverty legislation such as the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and the Social Security Amendment of 1965. President Johnson's call to arms also laid the foundation for the creation of legal services such as the APALRC's very own.

To commemorate this special occasion, the APALRC is proud to announce that Mr. James J. Sandman, the president of the Legal Services Corporation, will be the keynote speaker at our anniversary celebration. We are also excited to present this year's Access to Justice Award to the pro bono legal team that has co-counseled with us on the Justice for Filipino Teachers Project. The team comprises the law firms of Covington & Burling; Crowell & Moring; DLA Piper; and Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Loewy. The APALRC is delighted to recognize the hard work and generosity of the partners and associates at these firms on behalf of our clients.

For sixteen years, the APALRC has worked hard to advance the civil and legal rights of Asian Americans in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia through community legal education, advocacy, and legal assistance. We could not have made it this far without your support! You make it possible for the APALRC to extend the much-needed legal assistance to this population that is often deprived of justice because of language barriers, immigration status, race or national origin. Please join us to celebrate sixteen years of service!

Registration will close on Monday, June 9.
