In this session, Dr. Robyn Jackson will show attendees how to influence both teachers' will and skill that will help them become more effective in their practice. Pacticipants will learn the four types of teachers and how each type needs a different kind of leadership and support in order to be effective. In addition, Dr. Jackson will share the biggest mistakes leaders make when trying to help teachers improve and how to avoid them.

Principals will walk away from this workshop with concrete strategies, tools, and workshop ideas they can immediately begin implementing no matter who they are leading.

The Elephant in the Schoolhouse: Adult Bullying
Despite the substantial efforts to address issues of bullying among our youth, many adults experience bullying in the school setting. This session will focus on issues of workplace bullying and other negative conduct as defined by Drs. Gary and Ruth Namie of the Workplace Bullying Institute. We will learn strategies for addressing such behaviors and how those strategies can contribute to a healthy school culture in which teachers can teach, students can learn, and we can lead. During this highly interactive learning session, participants will identify the bullies in their schools and design a plan to address their negative behavior.

Using Google Apps and Infographics to Increase Efficiency, Collaboration, and Engagement

Leaders of 21st century schools skillfully employ technology both as a leadership tool and learning tool for faculty and students. In this session, principals will examine how Google Apps for Education can enable them to increase their efficiency and model relevant and rigorous instructional strategies to engage students. Principals will learn strategies for faculty collaboration, modeling flipped learning, as well as incorporating the collection and distribution of data when used in conjunction with infographics.
** To ensure complete access to resources, laptops are the preferred learning tool in this session.

Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS): Using Data to Inform Supports Around Academics and Behavior

This session will focus on the importance of collecting and utilizing data in order to implement a comprehensive, tiered approach to supporting students in both academics and behavior. Participants will walk away with tools and resources to help them as they work to implement this framework within their systems.

Join practicing principals from around Michigan as they share what's working in their buildings. In this interactive session, you'll hear from each of the panelist about the specific work on which they are focusing as they move from theory to practice and then participate in a table talk with each of the panelists for further discussion. • Peer Coaching - Allow teachers to get out of their classrooms to see great teaching in action.  This process capitalizes on our biggest available resource--our staff.

Who Is HEMI? And Why Is He Driving My Car? Targeting Growth Using Student Learning Objectives as a Robust Measure of Educator Effectiveness

HEMI (better known as Highly Effective, Effective, Minimally Effective, Ineffective) is a powerful engine that is at the pole position of every educational rat-race! As states and districts implement educator evaluation systems that include measures of student growth, one fo the challenges is identifying measures for non-tested grades and subjects. Using Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) is one promising approach to this challenge. If properly implemented, SLOs help teachers bring more evidence and research-based practices to their art, strengthen instructional support in their classrooms, and greatly increase student achievement. This highly interactive session will put you in the driver's seat toward securing needed information on HEMI and SLOs.

Coaching and Feedback: Tools for Successful Evaluators

Today's school administrators are charged with providing meaningful evaluations for all educators.
