12th - 14th September 2014, Marlow

We are very pleased to invite you to our ‘Understanding Yourself’ weekend in Marlow. This weekend will be of interest to everyone – whatever your age or background.

Why this course?

God wants the whole of who we are. We can only relate properly to each other, and the Lord, when we are able to give ourselves away. But many people are strangers to themselves and will live and die without ever experiencing as much as 50% of who they are.

Unfortunately, what we don’t understand, and live in, tends to disproportionately influence our attitudes and behaviour. We can feel powerless to break patterns and make necessary changes and our relationships suffer as a result – with the attendant stress and frustration.

It doesn’t have to be this way – that is why we have developed a course that  enables us to understand ourselves, and others, significantly better.

During the weekend we will discover:

  •       why it is important to understand ourselves
  •       the richness of our particular temperaments
  •       how those temperaments interact within us
  •       how that interaction affects the way we feel about ourselves and how we                   relate  to others
  •       the influence of our past on our temperaments
  •       how our identity is formed
  •       the importance of affirmation
  •       key concepts essential to meaningful relationships
  •       getting the breakthrough

Who will present the weekend?

John has been in Christian work for forty years.  During that time he has been involved in many aspects of church life but has always had a desire to help people understand themselves and equip them to build meaningful relationships.

He has counselled hundreds of people over the years and developed courses that provide help with, and insights into, the practical challenges that people face in everyday life.

John has been active in his local community as Chair of Governors of a local school and as a magistrate.  With others, he currently leads Halesworth Community Church.  He is married to Merle and they have six children – four boys and two   girls – and six grandchildren.

Programme

The course will commence on Friday 12th September at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start and the evening will finish by 9.00pm. On Saturday there will be  sessions from 9.30am through to 5pm – stopping for lunch and refreshments. The weekend will conclude by 5pm on Sunday afternoon. The weekend will consist of teaching presentations, discussion and opportunities to talk personally if you wish. A full programme will be sent to you nearer the time.
