Meditation shows us that true happiness is found within. In this talk, Tergar instructor Edwin Kelley will discuss the nature of meditation, provide guidance in how to get started, and introduce some of its benefits.
The evening will include video teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche, author of the best-selling Joy of Living. Attendees will learn about the Tergar approach to meditation and will be able to determine whether the weekend workshop that follows is right for them. The talk is suitable for people of all faiths, as well as both beginning and experienced meditators.

In this weekend meditation workshop we will learn how cultivating awareness can help create a peaceful mind and joyful heart. The practice of meditation enables us to transform all experiences, even difficult emotions and painful thoughts, into sources of joy. Over the course of this weekend, we will explore the landscape of our experience with mindful awareness, learning how to use the body, sensory experiences, thoughts, emotions, and even awareness itself as supports for meditation.
The schedule for this weekend workshop includes DVD teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, presentations on the key points of meditation practice by Tergar instructor Edwin Kelley, as well as guided meditations and discussion. This weekend is suitable for people of all faiths, as well as both beginning and experienced meditators.

About the Instructor
Edwin Kelley attended his first meditation retreat in 1975 and has practiced in both the Theravada and the Tibetan Buddhist traditions. He was executive director of the Insight Meditation Society from 1996-2003 and has a postgraduate diploma in Buddhist Studies.
Edwin is a long-time student of Mingyur Rinpoche and co-director of Tergar International, the organization that oversees Rinpoche's activities around the world. Read more...
