How the Neurobiology of ASD Impacts Learning/Educational – Dr. Margaret Bauman - Friday Keynote

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is now believed to be a heterogeneous group of neurodevelopmental disorders which are believed to begin before birth. Imaging studies and investigations of postmortem brain have found abnormalities in many brain regions including cortical regions, the limbic system and the cerebellum. This presentation will discuss how these regions may be important to many of the symptoms associated with ASD and what these may mean in terms of potential educational approaches and strategies.
Dr. Margaret Bauman is a Pediatric Neurologist and an Associate Professor at the Boston University School of Medicine. She is the author of numerous research and clinical publications and is the co-author of “The Neurobiology of Autism” and co-author of  “Your Successful Preschooler”. Dr. Bauman has also been the recipient of numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society for Autism Research in 2011.
