Agent Bios:

Christa Heschke, McIntosh and Otis.  Christa has been at McIntosh and Otis, Inc. in the Children's Literature Department since 2009 where she is actively looking for picture books, middle grade and young adult projects. A fan of young adult novels with a romantic angle, and strong, quirky protagonists. Interested in contemporary fiction, horror and thrillers/mysteries, steampunk and fantasy (urban and high), that pushes the boundaries of what’s currently on the shelves. As for middle grade, Christa enjoys contemporary (especially humorous), adventure, mystery, and magical realism for boys and girls. For picture books, she’s drawn to cute, character driven stories. She is open to considering new adult projects.

Lori Kilkelly, Rodeen Literary Management; Lori joined RLM in 2010, a year after Paul Rodeen left Sterling Lord Literistic to open his own agency in Chicago. After years spent insales and advertising, she began as an intern and reader, quickly rising the ranks to assistant, during which time she managed submissions, helped handle client and editorial correspondence and identified new client potential. In 2011 she began directing RLM's social media, creating an active Facebook page and Twitter handle, among other endeavors. In 2012, at the encouragement of Paul and editor Connie Hsu, then with Little, Brown, Lori began representing her own clients. Lori is looking for gifted artists who write their own stories, and writers who cross age-range, particularly if they write picture books texts. She prefers fiction to non-fiction and loves to be surprised by a story with an unexpected ending that somehow makes perfect sense. She's as likely to be moved by a hilarious picture book as a Scifi YA. She is most likely to bring on a client who is exceedingly serious about the business of writing but doesn't take themselves too seriously, someone who values craft, writes consistently and considers writing their life's work.

Sean McCarthy,                   McCarthy Literary. Sean is drawn to flawed, multifaceted characters with devastatingly concise writing in YA, and boy-friendly mysteries or adventures in MG. In picture books, he looks more for unforgettable characters, off-beat humor, and especially clever endings. He is not currently interested in high fantasy, message-driven stories, or query letters that pose too many questions.

Charlie Olsen started his publishing career at InkWell Literary in 2007. He is interested in fiction, children’s books, graphic novels and illustrated works, and compelling narrative non-fiction.  He works with award-winning graphic novelists, including New York Times bestseller Matt Kindt, New York Times bestseller Jeff Lemire, and Cartoonist’s Studio Prize-winner Noelle Stevenson; distinguished children’s book authors including New York Times bestseller Andrea Cremer, Amy Ewing, Zoë Ferraris, and Gus Gordon; and also represents non-fiction—both illustrated and traditional prose—like Whisk(e)y Distilled by Heather Greene (Viking, 2014); a book about the seven would-be assassins of Queen Victoria called Shooting Victoria by Paul Thomas Murphy (Pegasus,2012); and The Warren Commission Report: A Graphic Investigation into the Kennedy Assassination by Dan Mishkin, Ernie Cólon, and Jerzy Drozd (Abrams, 2014).

Susanne Cruise,                              Cruise Creative Licensing            Suzanne  founded her company, Suzanne Cruise Creative Services, Inc., in 1990. A well-established veteran of the design industry, Cruise has directed her company to be one of the top licensing agencies in the country, featuring many highly acclaimed artists.  Cruise has built her flourishing business based on a thorough understanding of the creative process, the marketplace, design trends and clients’ needs.
