MALA Kansas City Broadway Shows - Group TicketsThis workshop will be more than just a presentation. It will be an interactive session about idea generating, creativity, and the power of effective design. We’ll explore the main elements of design and dig in to find out how they work together. This will not be a hands-on computer workshop.
Rusty Kugler is an art director for Mid-Continent Public Library. He has also been a freelance designer for the Kansas Speedway for the past 7 years. When asked, Rusty will tell you that he never thought he’d ever be a designer at a library, nor a designer for NASCAR, but loves the challenge of stepping outside of his comfort zone.
Rusty graduated from CMSU (UCM) in 2003 but has been designing professionally since 2001. He is currently the Education Chair on the Art + Copy Club Board (A branch of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Advertising Federation). Rusty was a part of the MCPL internal Marketing Department, who launched an award-winning rebranding campaign centered on the Library’s ability to provide access to information and ideas to their service area. The John Cotton Dana Award was awarded to MCPL on June 30, 2013.
Mikhail Shadeed is a graphic designer at Mid-Continent Public Library. He stumbled into graphic design by way of illustration at the University of Central Missouri, and currently spends his time trying to find ways to sneak his drawings into his everyday work.
