THE FUTURE OF ISRAEL STARTS HERE

Will Israelis emerge from this crisis recommitted to an open, tolerant, and shared society?

Join the foremost experts on the issues gripping Israeli society today.

Featuring:

Ari Shavit is a leading Israeli columnist and writer. With the recent publication of his internationally acclaimed book My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel, he has become one of the most talked about and influential authors of 2014. Via live-feed videoconference.

Akiva Eldar is the Chief Political Columnist for Almonitor and author. He was a chief political columnist and editorial writer for the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz, where he worked for 35 years. He is the CEO of the Israel Conference on Peace that is initiated by Ha'aretz Group.

J.J. Goldberg is the Editor-at-Large of the newspaper The Jewish Daily Forward, where he served as editor in chief for seven years (2000-2007). He served as U.S. bureau chief of the Israeli newsmagazine Jerusalem Report, managing editor of The Jewish Week of New York, and as a nationally syndicated columnist.

Joseph Rosen has deftly opened the conversation about why it is so difficult to talk about Israel in Canada in his seminal article “The Israel Taboo” recently published in The Walrus Magazine in Canada. In his writing, Rosen has focused on the ways that cultural memory and historical trauma effect ongoing politics.

Merav Michaeli (one of our previously scheduled speakers) is a member of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and is compelled to remain in Israel at this time.

Event is free of charge, refreshments will be served.

The Toronto Centre for the Arts is subway-accessible. Paid parking is available.
