Understanding how the brain, mind and body is affected by toxic stress and sculpted by responding to traumatic experiences is central to effective clinical practice.
Organizational cultures and clinical practices that are trauma-sensitive create environments and relationships essential for holding neurobiological healing from toxic stress. Part II focuses on applying the neuro-trauma lens in practice. Brain areas necessary for cognitive processing, new learning, and meaning making can only be accessed if affective and somatic regulation (safety) is first established, including the therapist’s. Relational strategies for regulation will be presented through case vignettes and audience questions. Brief mention of vicarious traumatization will be made.
Join us for a warm breakfast and an opportunity to network with other behavioral health professionals from 8:00 - 9:00 am.
