USA-South Africa: Border Surveillance Technology Cooperation Symposium

USA – South Africa Border Surveillance Technology Cooperation Symposium is a full-day, invitation-only event produced by U.S. Commercial Service in South Africa and Kallman Worldwide, organizers of the U.S. Pavilion at Africa Aerospace & Defence 2014.

The symposium will feature presentations by U.S. and South African representatives from government, private sector and NGOs who have an interest in land and air surveillance technologies and network & communications interoperability. Briefings, challenges and solutions to the burgeoning border security and poaching problems afflicting many African nations will be addressed. This symposium will take place on 16 September 2014, the eve of the biennial Africa Aerospace & Defence Exhibition at South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) International Convention Center in Pretoria, South Africa.

Symposium Highlights:

  • Keynote address by Major General (ret.) Johan Jooste, Kruger Park Anti-Poaching, SANParks
  • Participation and presentations by high-level South African and U.S. government officials including invited Guest of Honor, U.S. Ambassador Patrick Gaspard; Armscor; CSIR-DPSS; AMD; US Army Research Office; US Corps of Engineers; other distinguished speakers and agencies will be added to the roster
  • Panel discussions including case studies from the field
  • Many opportunities for US and South African defense industry developers and manufacturers to connect with consumers of security products/services from the US and South African government and private sectors 
  • Lunch and refreshment breaks will be served; the day ends with a cocktail/networking reception
