With no long-term revenue source to keep the Highway Trust Fund solvent and the highway funding law, MAP-21, extended only through May, future transportation projects appear to be in jeopardy. Quick fixes and patches may help the system limp along, but chronic underinvestment in infrastructure will not help future generations move forward. Join NOACA Executive Director Grace Gallucci and our line-up of speakers at NOACA's Annual Meeting as they address the theme "The True Cost of Transportation."

NOACA has been developing a regional strategic plan to create a blueprint for effective and efficient transportation, including identifying innovative funding sources.

Keynote Address: "Housing + Transportation: A True Measure of Affordability"
Speaker: Scott Bernstein, President and Cofounder, Center for Neighborhood Technology
Transportation is the second largest expense for families after housing, but few consider these costs when choosing a place to live. A more complete measure is that of location efficiency, which combines housing and transportation costs.

Panel Discussion: "Financing the Future of Transportation"
Moderator: Jackie Zabielski, Traffic Reporter, WEWS TV-5
Panelists: Experts on transportation funding, featuring Congressman Bob Gibbs, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, and former U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich
With the Highway Trust Fund approaching insolvency, transportation funding is uncertain, leaving future infrastructure needs potentially unmet. The panel will discuss these issues.
