Caring for the Care Givers
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Program Objectives:
- Learn three strategies to reduce internal stress when caring for dementia patients.
- Learn three behaviors common to dementia patients.
- Learn two strategies to reduce wandering.
- Learn what is a "Catastrophic Emotional Reaction."

- Michelle Mielke, PhD, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Neurology, Mayo Clinic
Program Objectives:
- Understanding brain changes associated with Alzheimer's.
- Discuss facts that we know increase or decrease the risk of Alzheimer's and factors that have been publicized in the media but do not appear to have an effect on disease risk.
- Understand how the brain changes in persons that will develop or are developing Alzheimer's Disease.
- Identify new diagnostic criteria for research purposes--preclinical and clinical criteria.
