About the Speaker
Mr. Water Cheung joined StormHarbour in February 2010 to oversee the firm’s business in Asia. Prior to StormHarbour, in 2007 Mr Cheung was hired to help RBS to build up its emerging market presence in Asia, and later to integrate its market business with that of ABN AMRO. Between April 2004 and May 2007, he was the Head of Global Financial Markets for DBS and managed its investment banking and treasury business in Greater China.
Concurrently, Mr Cheung also ran DBS’ Global Debt Capital Markets and successfully expanded DBS’ real estate securitization business. Prior to DBS, he was the Managing Director in CIBC’s Financial Products team in Singapore and Head of Regional Derivatives Trading at Chase Manhattan Bank in Hong Kong. Mr Cheung started his banking career in Canada working for institutions including The Bank of Montreal and Burns Fry. He is a regular columnist in the Hong Kong Economic Journal and Ming Pao. Mr Cheung holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA degree from York University in Canada.
