This Archive Does More Than Genealogy: The National Archives at Kansas City Tour
Join area library staff for a tour of the Kansas City branch of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). As the “nation’s record keeper”, NARA is responsible for the retention of items of national significance. Participants will be treated to distinctive special collections and opportunities to learn how we can connect our library patrons to unique materials which impact everyday life. Also included will be a behind-the-scenes peek at how a special collection is managed.

Security: The National Archives at Kansas City implements entrance screening. Visitors will be greeted upon entry by security personnel who will conduct a thorough but speedy hand-check of all bags, briefcases, purses, and containers. All visitors are required to walk through a metal detector. Those who are unable to go through the metal detector will be hand-screened with an electronic wand by security personnel.MALA Certificate Program: na
Cost - We will NOT be accepting registration fee payments at the door - All registration fees must be prepaid or billed:
- MALA member: $15.00
- Non-member: $30.00
MALA Workshop Billing/Refund/Credit Policy:
We prefer all workshops to be prepaid or paid at the door. If you prefer to be billed, please add $5. Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the workshop date less a $5 administrative fee. You can transfer to another workshop a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the workshop date with no administrative fee. Cancellations made less than seven (7) days prior to the workshop date receive no refund or credit and you or your organization will be billed. No shows are billed to you or your organization.
