The Power of Self-Advocacy 2014

We are bringing back this powerful event and hope you can join us for an inspiring family workshop. The YES! Ambassadors will teach your children how to become strong self-advocates in school while we will teach you parents how to support the process.  The YES! Ambassadors will share stories, examples and tips in their self-advocacy presentation. We will then break the students into age-level groups* to further explore personal gifts, challenges and helpful solutions in the classroom.  At the same time, the parents will meet to discuss ways to guide and support their students as they learn to effectively self-advocate. This workshop will conclude with the opportunity to create an outline for your child's own individualized print or PowerPoint presentation. During breaks, we will be sharing some of the wonderful student presentations from previous workshops.

You will also have the opportunity at this event to find out more about the YES! Program (Youth Examples of Self-Advocacy) which is designed to support your student's self-advocacy skills throughout the coming year and beyond.
