YACWI Women’s Forum
Beyond Violence: Responding to interpersonal violence at work, at home, and in the community
September 12 & 13, 2014
Westmark Whitehorse Hotel
Whitehorse, YT

  In Partnership with

Liard Aboriginal Women's Society

The Yukon Advisory Council on Women’s Issues (YACWI) and Women’s
Directorate in partnership with the Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society will hosting their annual YACWI Women’s Forum this fall.

The purpose of the Forum will be to invite 100 women from around Yukon and Whitehorse to network, share their responses and resistance to violence of all kinds, brainstorm ways of providing positive social responses to others, and explore ways of challenging abusive behaviour at work, in the home, and in the community context.

This year's theme for the forum is: “ Beyond Violence:  Responding to interpersonal violence at work and in the home and community”.

Our goal is to have a forum that is informative, interactive, and inspirational.  We will share new ideas, honour participants’ work on the ground, and explore methods of achieving peace and justice in our communities.  The tone will be pro-active, positive, thoughtful, supportive, and innovative.

Event Highlights:

  • Evening Reception on Friday, September 12 to include opening remarks, entertainment and food.

  • Keynote Presentation and workshop by Dr. Allan Wade and Dr. Cathy Richardson

  • Panel with community leaders who are achieving peace and justice in our communities
