About Guys' Night Out:

Guys' Night Out is a FREE event, open to the public. You are invited to stop by on September 10, 2014 at Coliseum Bar in Madison for a mid-week mental health break, learn about Man Therapy and mental wellness for working-age men. Have a brat and a beverage. Hang with the guys. Enjoy the comedy and wit of local emcee Mitch Henck to break the tension and start the conversation about a very serious subject: men's mental health.

This is a no-frills, no-obligation, honest-to-goodness Guys' Night Out event to bring awareness to suicide prevention and wellness among working age men.

Why Should Men Attend?

Men living in Dane County ages 25-54 are three times more likely than women to complete suicide, and men ages 45-54 are at the greatest risk. These are our fathers, brothers, sons and friends.

What is Man Therapy?

Man Therapy is an internet-based resource with wellness and actionable solutions in one website (www.mantherapy.org), led by an engaging and offbeat fictional therapist named Dr. Rich Mahogany. Although Dr. Mahogany is a fictional and very funny character, the intent is very serious: to bring awareness and action to the stigma associated with men’s mental health issues.

The Man Therapy campaign is part of a multi-agency effort: locally with Safe Communities Madison-Dane County, Dane County Department of Human Services and Mental Health America of Wisconsin; and nationally with the Colorado Office of Suicide Prevention, Carson J Spencer Foundation, and Cactus, a Denver, CO advertising agency.
