The Saint Paul Police Professional Development Institute (PDI) is sponsoring a BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY course.
This course will focus on the practical aspect of conducting an investigation as a part of a pre-employment screening process for all governmental employees. Topics to be covered include; data practices, collecting pre-employment information, analyzing and focusing your investigation, legal issues, identify elements that disqualify candidates and writing an investigative report.
Attendees will also be led thru a mock background investigation to include interviews. SPPD Background Investigators have worked literally non-stop for the last 4 years conducting backgrounds to fill openings for Parking Enforcement Officers, Community Laison Officers, Civilian Police Academy hopefuls, and Police Officers, certified and non-certified. This includes an upcoming Academy of 50 Officers starting September 2, 2014. They will provide participants with updates and procedurals changes due to changes in the Law Enforcement climate. SPPD Background Investigation Unit will have completed a minimum of 150 background investigations in regards to the January 2013 SPPD Recruit Academy.
