Register and join Keep Pearland Beautiful for the 11th Annual Plant Thyme Fall Luncheon, with proceeds benefiting the Joe Miller Scholarship Fund and current KPB educational programs. This year, the luncheon features guest speaker Chef Monica Pope, former Top Chef Masters contestant and proprietor of Sparrow Bar and Cookshop in Houston, TX.
Named 2009’s Best Chef at the Houston Culinary Awards, Monica Pope is a 2007 James Beard Award Nominee for Best Chef: Southwest and the owner of Sparrow Bar and Cookshop in Houston. The only Texas woman to ever be named a Top 10 Best New Chef by Food & Wine Magazine (1996), Pope first learned to cook from her Czech grandmother and went on to earn her Chef’s title from Prue Leith’s School of Food and Wine in London.
Chef Monica Pope is largely credited with championing sustainability in the food industry and introducing the farm to table concept to Houston. Come and hear as she speaks about her work with homegrown herbs in cooking, her time in front of the camera on Season 2 of Bravo's Top Chef Masters, her work with Recipe for Success Foundation, and her many years of experience in the culinary world. Chef Pope will also provide a cooking demonstration utilizing herbs from her garden.
