Apprenticeship Roundtable 

The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum’s Board of Directors invites you to participate at its Annual General Meeting and roundtable discussion.  This year, the discussion will focus on challenges and opportunities created by technical training delivery outside the block release model.  The federal government announced a program to pilot alternative delivery approaches in the last budget.  This discussion will contribute insights and share experiences from the apprenticeship community.  Advance registration required.

Participants are encouraged to consider how they can contribute to the following questions: 

Pros and Cons of Alternate Training Delivery 

• In discussion with your group, identify the forms of alternate delivery you are familiar with.  What are the pros and cons of each?

Benefits and Challenges of New Approaches

• What barrier(s) stand to be addressed by each form of technical training?  Which apprenticeship stakeholders derive the most benefit (employer, apprentice, trainer)?
• To your knowledge, what new challenges or concerns are created by the various forms of alternate training delivery?

Advice to Policymakers

• What would you hope to learn through federally-funded pilot initiatives?  What do policymakers need to know about alternate approaches to technical training delivery?
