Basket Making

Beginning Basket Making - Projects:  Complete at least 4.  This beginner class focuses on a variety of square and round baskets.  Learn techniques in weaving and twining, packing reed, color patterns, as well as dyeing and staining reed.  $40 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class meeting.  Wanda Seward, Instructor.  $59.00

Intermediate Basket Weaving - Projects:  2 challenging projects.  First design your own basket using ribbed basketry techniques.  Then, we will focus on twill basketry, learning to recognize twill patterns and using color to highlight the pattern in the basket.  A $45 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class meeting.  Wanda Seward, Instructor. $59.00

Wheel Thrown Pottery and Glazing Techniques - This course covers basic techniques for throwing and glazing pottery on the wheel and electric kiln firing processes in conjunction with many clay construction techniques.  Aesthetics of form and texture are emphasized.  Beginners are welcome.  Clay and tools required are available in the SFCC Campus Store.  Basic Tools can be made available upon request.  Michael Shukers, Instructor. $79.00

Quilt in a Day Twisted Log Cabin - Project:  Twisted Log Cabin Quilt Top.  Eleanor Burns’ new pattern is a twist on the traditional Log Cabin Quilt Block. Class members will use the new ruler to make a “Wonkey” Log Cabin block. Each participant in the class will choose their own colors and setting. Setting diagrams will be discussed when the top is set together.  Rebecca Schnakenberg, Instructor. $49.00

Machine Applique - Project: Seasonal Quilted Table Runner.  Applique made easy by using the sewing machine to make a seasonal quilted table runner.  Techniques in this class will include: making a pieced background, using fusible web, design placement, and finishing techniques.  Use your stash of scrap 100% cotton fabrics in this class.
