Cannon Beach Stormy Weather Arts Festival

Music, theatre, and art will storm Cannon Beach November 7-9.  Some of the Northwest’s most successful artists will converge on Cannon Beach as the community hosts its annual fall celebration of the arts. Cannon Beach art galleries and local businesses will present special exhibits, artist demonstrations and host receptions for guest artists over the three-day festival.

Art in Action

"Art in Action" replaces the quickdraw event.  In lieu of the quickdraw and live auction, the evening will focus on art, artists and entertainment along with a silent auction.

The weekend kicks off with the Friday night event at the Surfsand Ballroom.  Participating artists are:  Josh Henrie, Jeffrey Hull, Hazel Schlesinger, Sharon Abbott-Furze, Marianne Post, and Pamela Wachtler-Fermanis.  These Professional artists will be in the spotlight, demonstrating their techniques in painting, sculpture or other media.  As an attendee of the Art in Action event you will have first opportunity to purchase these original works directly from the Artists.  If an original work is still available after the event it will return to the galleries for display throughout the weekend.

The auction has been transformed into a silent auction and will let attendees bid on unique Cannon Beach experiences, travel packages and other items donated by our Chamber of Commerce members and other hopitality partners.

Entertainment includes music, presentations from our artists, and special performances by local artists.

Art in Action will be held at the Surfsand Ballroom located at 148 W Gower St.  The Wayfarer will be catering the wonderful food and beverages once again.  Doors will open at 7:00pm.

Gallery Receptions

Starting Friday all of our galleries and many other businesses around town will be having receptions, demonstrations, and presentations from many special artists.  Each individual location will add their unique touch to our Stormy Weather Arts Festival.  Check our website or event brochure for all the details.

Spotlight Concert

Cooper and The Jam

Fresh on the scene, Cooper brings a fiery spirit and a massive voice to the turntable.  She performs with a power and tenacity that is difficult for most young women to muster.  Named one of Nashville's top 5 artists on the rise for 2014 by Nashville Lifestyles Magazine, Cooper and her extraordinary band have been kicking butt in Music City and stealing hearts across the country.  Music City Roots journalist Craig Havighurst calls Cooper "delightful, twinkly, impassioned and on the make."

Born and raised in the rural Oregon coastal mountain range, she moved to Portland OR and put herself through college while performing in local night clubs and bartending at a seedy strip club.  Upon graduation, she packed up her VW van and moved to Nashville, TN to write and record her first album and to launch her dream career.

Cooper recently recorded her second album.  She also participated in  the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland OR, opening for Jimmy Page.  The Stormy Weather Arts Festival is proud to feature Cooper and the Jam in our Spotlight Concert on Saturday night.  Doors open for festival seating at 7:00pm and the concert will start at 7:30pm.
