From Fraternity Brothers to Business Partners

Today's on-demand business solutions have developed over time with pioneering minds driving them to fruition. In the late 1990's, as businesses were turning to the web for answers to their everyday needs, three Rensselaer alumni were rolling out an innovative solution that they were sure businesses were going to love.

Mimeo.com is a document on-demand production company with a cloud-based platform providing customers the simplest way to create, manage, and distribute content and materials. As the innovator of online managed content distribution, the private company has provided solutions to more than 50,000 organizations in over 140 countries over the past 15 years.

Founded in 1998, Mimeo joins an elite group of 59 companies that have been named seven or more times to the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Private Companies. Mimeo has appeared on the Inc. 5000 every year since the list’s inception in 2007 as well as two appearances on the Inc. 500 list.

The Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship and the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer are proud to recognize the accomplishments of John Delbridge '91, Jeff Stewart '91, and David Uyttendaele '91, at the 2014 Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year Award Celebration.

John Delbridge '91

As president, chief executive officer, and a founding team member of Mimeo.com, John is responsible for driving the strategic direction, product and service vision, as well as growth for Mimeo worldwide.

In his time at Mimeo, John has held a number of leadership positions including chief financial officer, chief operating officer, and most recently as president. He has been instrumental in transitioning the company from a U.S.-based startup to a global leader and was critical in raising capital, leading advancement in operations, and spearheading Mimeo’s expansion to Western Europe in 2011.

John earned a MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a bachelor’s degree in industrial and management engineering from Rensselaer.

Jeff Stewart '91

Over the last 15 years, Jeff has started more than a half-dozen technology companies that span across four continents and employ over 1,000 people. These companies include Mimeo, Lenddo, Urgent Group, Urgent Ventures, Urgent Career, and SquareEarth which merged with Proxicom in a successful IPO.

He has also worked as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham until 2007, a board of advisors member at Working Media Group until 2010, and a board of advisors member for Global Bay until 2011.

Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in entrepreneurship at Rensselaer in 1991.

David Uyttendaele '91

As chief technology officer and a founding team member at Mimeo.com, David leads product vision, invention, and technology architecture.

In 1995, along with Jeff Stewart, David co-founded Square Earth, a first generation Internet consulting firm. At Square Earth, David oversaw the delivery of high-end Internet technology solutions for companies such as Citibank, BMW, Merrill Lynch, and AIG. Square Earth grew organically from its start to its sale in 1998 to Proxicom. The merged entity went on to complete an IPO in 1999.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Rensselaer in 1991.

The William F. Glaser '53 Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year award salutes successful entrepreneurs who, in turn, are important role models for the students of Rensselaer. Those honored with the award bring the world of entrepreneurship into the classrooms and laboratories at Rensselaer, sharing their experience and wisdom with all students.
