Sofia's Bio : fitting pointe shoes is something that comes naturally to Sofia Konstance Uralsky. Being the third generation of ballet dancers in her family, and a second generation pointe shoe fitter, Sofia has been around pointe shoes for as long as she can remember. She began her early training at Ballet Iowa, in West Des Moines, IA. Upon moving to New York, she then continued her training under the direction of her parents, Irina Vassileni and Konstantin Uralsky, at the Russian Ballet School on Long Island in New York. As a teenager, Sofia was fortunate enough to attend summer programs at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington, D.C., The Royal Ballet School, in London, England and the summer intensive at the prestigious Varna International Ballet Competition, in Varna, Bulgaria. She was also a student at ABT's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (JKO) School, in New York, for her senior year of training. Upon graduation, Ms. Uralsky began her professional career at the Vienna State Opera Ballet in Vienna, Austria where she had the opportunity to perform in classics such as Giselle and Swan Lake, while also learning pieces by renowned choreographers Boris Eifman, for his Anna Karenina, and John Cranko’s, Onegin, among many others. Sofia was a guest artist at the Varna Opera Theatre and later trained with the Sofia Opera Ballet, in Bulgaria. Returning to New York, Ms. Uralsky found a home with the Eglevsky Ballet, as well as doing freelance work for choreographers and companies throughout the tri-state area. Sofia Konstance Uralsky relocated to Chicago in 2013 and has since been traveling the country, fitting Russian Pointe shoes on the feet of aspiring young dancers everywhere! In addition to her experience throughout the ballet community, she holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing and has worked with the MLB, NHL, NBA and WNBA sports organizations.
