DAN BENA, PEPSICO

Dan has spent 30 years at PepsiCo, which supports & enables his passion for solutions to global water insecurity and the development and empowerment of youth. He was instrumental to a collaboration that enabled PepsiCo to provide 3 MM people with access to safe water, a critical impact considering that a child dies every 20 seconds from a waterborne disease! Last year, Dan provided an opening address to 1200 youth ambassadors from over 100 countries at the United Nations Youth Assembly. Before that, he led the PepsiCo Foundation sponsorship of the Spirit of Innovation Awards, to engage high school youth in STEM education. He currently serves on the Board of the Creative Visions Foundation, whose Rock Your World program engages middle and high schoolers in the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and provides them tools to become agents of social change. We are inspired by his generosity of spirit and his dedication to improving the quality of life for so many.

ANDREW MALCOLM, ANDRUS '48

Andrew resided at Andrus, an orphanage at the time, from 1941-1948. He came from a life of poverty, welfare and underperformance in school and left as an honor student, later becoming a revered electrical engineer and professor at the National Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. Andy, who celebrates where he got his start, has returned to ANDRUS as Santa Claus every year since his retirement, driving to Yonkers from Rochester, NY to distribute carefully wrapped presents to ANDRUS kids. As he tells us, "The act of giving itself is what the real gift is." It is our privilege to recognize him for his nearly fifteen years of very special support for our community.
