2014 Launch Retreat  Sept 26-28

This is our BIGGEST retreat of the year in which the students get to know one another & their leaders, and learn about our focus for the year ... plus have tons of fun!

Our expectation is that some students (esp. 6th & 7th graders) will be nervous about going ... "Will I know anyone? Will anyone like me? Will I be accepted?" That's normal. Our hope is that you, as parents, sign them up anyway.  We only grow when we are outside of our comfort zones. And the only way to get to know others is to be in a target rich environment where there are others you don't know ... and the main focus of the weekend is on getting to know others and be in community with them!

8th graders will spend most of the weekend bonding with their Table Group & Leader so it's VERY important for all Confirmation students to be at Launch.

Sr High students will go deeper in their discipleship than the jr. high students, led by Director of Student Discipleship Josh Arrington.  We'll also focus on breaking down social walls with them while having a great time as well!  

Who:  6th - 12th grade AHUMC students & adult volunteers

(The purpose of this retreat is for AHUMC students to bond with one another and their leaders.  Students may invite friends IF they promise to continue  reaching out to those friends and expect that they may continue coming to AHUMC. It is detrimental to the base purpose of the Launch Retreat for them to bring friends so that they feel comfortable.)

When:  Departure is Friday, Sept 26 (arrive 5 pm; buses leave @ 5:30 pm) -

Return is Sunday, Sept 28 (around 12 noon)

Where:  Camp Tejas in Giddings, TX

Time:  Arrive at AHUMC @ 5:00 pm on Friday & then arrive back at the church for pickup around noon.

Cost:

Regular Registraion (Sept 1 - 14) $120 Students / $50 Adults

Late Registration (Sept 15 - 21)   $145 Students / $50 Adults                               

*Cost includes:  pizza on Friday, t-shirt, bus, food & lodging at Camp Tejas, & all activities

*A "multiple sibling discount" is available (25% off if sending multiple siblings; not applicable for adults attending).  If registering multiple siblings, you will choose this option when paying.

**Partial scholarships (25%, 50%, 75% off) are readily available upon request for early bird and regular registrants; simply email David Roper BEFORE registering to make this request.  Scholarships are not granted for late registrants.

Click here to download the required Forms needed for the Retreat. These must be completed & turned in BEFORE the Retreat! You can turn them in on Sundays to Laura Peel or mail them to the church (825 E Basse Rd, 78209) to the attention of Laura Peel, Student Ministry Admin Asst.

"Behind the scenes" volunteers are often needed for this retreat.  Please contact David Roper if you are interested.


STUDENT MINISTRY REFUND POLICY:   Refunds may be granted up to two weeks before the event.  Refunds will not be granted less than two weeks prior to an event except for major reasons (student is hospitalized, death in the family, etc.).  This is because significant work is handled in the two weeks prior to an event (volunteers finalized, rooming assignments made, transportation finalized, groups formulated, leaderss assigned, etc.) and changes made cause undue problems.  In some circumstances, we are unable to grant refunds due to payments or contractual agreements having been made in advance for that person (i.e., airline tickets purchased, food/lodging reserved, etc.).
