 Cornerstone Anniversary Gala Presents

Amanda Lindhout and Jill Zmud

in an Inspirational Evening

Cornerstone Housing for Women will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a Special Gala on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Centurion Conference & Event Centre.

The evening is a celebration of Cornerstone’s 30 years, the many women who have come to Cornerstone seeking a new start in life, and the community of people who have chosen to journey with them in compassion and solidarity.

With CBC's Alan Neal as emcee, the event is certain to captivate the attention of all who attend; it will include a performance by Ottawa-based musician Jill Zmud and feature a special presentation by Amanda Lindhout . A new addition is Ottawa- based classic rock bank, The Bytown Boomers, who are sure to rock the house for all who wish to stay and dance the night away after the program ends.

Amanda Lindhout has gained international acclaim for her work supporting
development and aid in Somalia – the country where she once spent 460 days as a hostage. Amanda’s story of survival in the face of lost hope illustrates the remarkable strength of the human spirit. She is also the author of the internationally acclaimed memoir, A House in the Sky; soon to be made into a motion picture starring Rooney Mara.

Singer-songwriter and long-time Cornerstone supporter, Jill Zmud has just released her latest album, Small Matters of Life and Death, which takes inspiration from demo recordings made by her uncle, Ed Clynton, in the early 70’s.

Tickets purchased before October 21 are available at the special early-bird price of $100 each. Tickets purchased after October 21 are $125 each. Dinner is included in the ticket price; a partial income tax receipt will be provided. Table reservations for groups of 8 are available.

A variety of Corporate Sponsorships are available, including Table Sponsorships. For details on sponsor information contact Connie Franklin, Resource Development Manager at 613-254-6584 ext. 503 or connie.franklin@cornerstonewomen.ca.

Cornerstone/Le Pilier is the only agency in Ottawa which provides emergency shelter and supportive housing exclusively for  women leaving homelessness. Cornerstone is a ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa. It receives municipal, provincial and federal funding, as well as funding from the Anglican Church.  Donations from individuals, groups, parishes and local businesses make up the remaining portion of our support. About 400 women are served each year, but the need far exceeds Cornerstone’s ability to respond. Ten to fifteen women are turned away each night. Events like the upcoming gala enable Cornerstone to keep meeting this great need.

Sponsorships are available for this event.
