We are so excited for the 5th annual Thank the Turkeys celebration!
Read over all the information below thoroughly!
Event Specifics
Please note the following: The rabbit barn will not be open to the public. With this many people at one time, the rabbits will be far too sensitive and afraid to enjoy visitors. All of our rabbits are feral and do not like much interaction with humans. We hope you understand!
DATE: Saturday, November 22nd, 2014
TIME: 11:00-5:00 pm
The barns are only open from 11:00-1:30 pm, so PLEASE plan your arrival accordingly. The barns will be closed at 1:30 pm. The chicken/turkey barn will not open until feeding time.
Check-in: Be sure to check-in at the Animal Place table upon arrival! Snacks will be provided between 1:00-1:30 under the ed pavilion and outside the rabbit barn.
BARNS OPEN: 11:00-1:30 pm - Meet the Sheep, Pigs, Cattle, Goats
Dr. WILL TUTTLE: Time TBD, contingent on weather - Dr. Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet, will be speaking either at the sanctuary or the dining area, weather depending!
KIM STURLA, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: 1:30-2:00 PM - Meet up outside the chicken/turkey barn to hear from a visionary and leader in the animal rights movement, Kim Sturla, the co-founder and executive director of Animal Place.
FEEDING OF THE TURKEYS & CHICKENS: 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm - The fun time! There will be three locations to feed the turkeys - the girls will be outside, the boys in their own pasture, and two smaller girls and the chickens in their own pasture. We hope you'll share the turkey pies with the chickens too. Each visitor will receive ONE cupcake sized turkey pie. Any food leftover will be fed to the pigs.
FEEDING OF THE HUMANS: 3:00 - 5:00 pm - The food is gluten-free and delicious. You will be fed OFFSITE (see details below) and we will escort you to the facility, which is only 10 minutes from the sanctuary! Catering is done by Sanctuary Bistro, an all vegan restaurant and catering company.

Offsite Dinner Venue
We will be escorting you to the offsite venue where you will be eating, but in case you miss the vehicle train, this is the information needed for the location.
You will be eating at The Grange - a rental hall, NOT a restaurant.
Address: 12629 McCourtney Road. From the sanctuary, turn left onto McCourtney Road. Drive for approximately 10 minutes. The Banner Grange will be on your right side. If you hit the fairgrounds (on your left), you've gone too far.
Closed toed shoes are MANDATORY. You will not be permitted into the goat, pig, sheep, or cattle pastures without closed toed shoes. Please convey this to your group members!
Long pants are required for entrance into the pastures. Jeans or comfortable khakis should suffice!
It is too soon to know about the weather.
Bring your cameras! Take lots of photos and make sure to tag us on social media!
Leave companion animals at home. Our rescued farmed animals are very sensitive about unknown dogs. We ask that all companion animals remain at home. You cannot leave your dog in the vehicle unattended, given that there will be a lot of people around and we are on a busy road.
Please do not bring your own food. All food is vegan and gluten-free. Food for the turkeys will be provided to you.
