CEU Course: How to build psychological flexibility across setting (beginners) 

Across six webinars you will learn the basics of how to use the ACT Matrix in a variety of contexts and a variety of people. In addition to learning how to engage people in the ACT process using the matrix, you will also learn the basics of the point of view at the root of ACT and theory of language called RFT.

         Monitoring “Away” behaviors

         Monitoring “Toward” behaviors

         Estimating Toward and Away

         Discovering how to move time from Away to Toward.

          By the end of this webinar participants will be able to explain the basic matrix and then do the time sharing exercise. They will demonstrate knowing that this is a deictic framing exercise.

 

Webinar 4: Noticing Hooks (and what you do next)

         Introduction to the “hooks” of life

         Practicing noticing hooks in the room and in the self

         Noticing what you do next.

         Predicting hooks in the future

         Assigning “Noticing Hooks” homework

         Reviewing the homework

         Theory: Relating Noticing Hooks to Functional Contextualism and Relational Frame Theory.

         By the end of this webinar participants will be able to explain the noticing hooks exercise, how to assign its’ homework and place the exercise in the philosophy and theory of ACT.

 

Webinar 5: Doing the Bus exercise using the matrix

         At the end of this webinar participants will now how to set up and practice the bus exercise. They will also know the values, defusion and perspective taking work that is being accomplished during the exercise.

 

Webinar 6: The “13-Steps” of the Matrix, plus homework

         This webinar will show participants how to do a quick 13-step run through of the matrix and it’s basic exercises in less than one hour. This is a handy skill for school and business presentations from 1 to 4 hours in length.
