Here's a brief history of how this training came to be:

  • In the summer of 2013 Habitat began meeting with the Community Action Center in Northfield and Healthy Community Initiatives Dollars and $ense program.  We agreed that Financial Literacy was a gap in our program areas throughout Rice County.
  • In August of 2013 we held a Financial Literacy Summit.  Over 55 people attended this summit.
  • Out of that summit we developed a group of people who wanted to lead the effort.  This group is named Money Matters in Rice County.
  • This group has developed a model that we want to implement in Rice County.
  • We have networked with numerous non-profits, banks, businesses and employers.  You can see the list HERE.
  • Our next step is to equip 40 people through the Train the Trainer event with the Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy.
  • We are also seeking grants to help fund the effort of equipping our community to take control of their financial lives.

Want to be a part of this effort?  Contact Dayna Norvold, 507-323-5167 or e-mail:  hfhricecounty@gmail.com
