An interactive training designed to equip targeted participants with the necessary connection, knowledge and skill to increase their proactive and reactive bystander behaviors. This session is organized into three workshops.

Substance Abuse, PTSD and Other Co-Occurring Disorders

The link between trauma exposure and substance abuse has been well established. To address the effect that trauma has on an individual, this session will focus on engaging clients in therapeutic self-exploration groups that encourage moving past the trauma experiences without relying on the numbing effects of substances as self-medication.

Often times, an advocate is the first person a victim shares his or her story with after an assault. Learn the resources available to sexual assault survivors and hear about how advocates help, what keeps them going, and the complexities of sexual assault cases that can make having an advocate so critical for survivors.
