HOLLYWoods: A Red Carpet Gala

About Woods

Woods provides educational, residential, healthcare, clinical and vocational supports and services to 600 people of all ages and levels of care with a unique model that drives greater achievement for individuals. Philadelphia schoolteacher Mollie Woods founded Woods in 1913 as a progressive residential school for children diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. One century later, Woods' programs are highly individualized and as unique as the people we serve. Learn more.

Woods' Vision

In 2013, Woods celebrated its long and successful 100 year history with a Gala in Philadelphia. The elegant affair was designed to raise awareness for Woods and to celebrate the accomplishments of the thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that have benefitted from Woods' programs and services. This year Woods will continue the tradition by hosting HOLLYWoods: A Red Carpet Gala.

The Event

Taking place on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the magnificent Hyatt at the Bellevue, HOLLYWoods: A Red Carpet Gala, will feature entertainment from a 25-piece Big Band, The Mood Swings, a silent auction and more!

"Home Sweet Home": A Special Appeal to Our Guests

Imagine your loved one living away from home because they require the kind of expertise that only a place like Woods can provide. As much as you want to bring them home for frequent visits, the expense of transportation costs can add up, straining the family budget.  Heartbreaking, right? Stressful, to say the least!

The therapeutic benefits of having strong family relationships to an individual with a disability cannot be overstated. We feel this is a critical component of Woods' plans of services and supports, so much so that Woods incurs great expense providing transportation and staff support so the individuals we serve can travel home on a frequent basis.

More often than not, these expenses are not reimbursable, causing a strain on Woods' budget. Help us continue this effort by pledging your financial support of Woods' "Home Sweet Home" initiative. Help us continue to strengthen families and ensure the emotional well-being of those we serve! You will have the opportunity to give directly to the cause during the Live Auction!
